Fun Things to do in San Jose

by Guest Author 10 July 2017 09:46

There is so much to see and do in the San Jose area. After sifting through some of their amazing activities, we have narrowed it down to a few places you should come visit.

Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum

This museum has been constructed in a way that you can not only view the pieces but see them in an order to learn the history as well. They have placed translations and historical references in there so that way you understand what you are looking at and from what time period it came from.

There are hieroglyphs, mummies, and more artifacts for you to view. If you want you can get a guided tour of what you are seeing.

Children’s Discovery Museum

Sometimes your children need a place to play and learn. This museum is the perfect place for that. Your children can use their imagination and explore all the kid friendly exhibits in the area. During this time you can either partake in the fun or relax a little while your children play in a safe area. There exhibits include historical and scientific themed areas for children to learn and develop great skills.

Tech Museum of Innovation

This place is like the Children’s Discovery Museum, but they focus technology. While there, people can build robots and other fun things. There are many exhibits to play with and learn about. It is a great place for all ages and experience levels. If you don’t know much about technology or have a lot of experience, you will love this place.

Japanese Friendship Garden

If you want to see a beautiful landscape and have some tea or time with friends, then this place is great. It is not completely authentic to the Japanese culture. The garden is often filled with people laughing and enjoying themselves. This is a great place to take pictures with your family or loved one.

Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph

If you want to view beautiful stained glasses and bask in the historical artwork of this building. They have choirs, symphonies, and other concerts for you to watch. It is located in the heart of downtown. The employees are friendly and helpful. This is also still a fully functional Catholic church. If you want to go to mass during your visit, this is a great choice for you to choose.

Plaza de Cesar Chavez

During the winter you can enjoy the Christmas lights. That includes many decorated Christmas trees and the locals taking in the sight. During many other seasons you can listen to music and a water fountain for playing and photo opportunities.

Winchester Mystery House

This house was owned by a widow who was very wealthy because of her husband and the money left from the Winchester guns. The widow was mentally ill and believed that she had to constantly have to keep construction going or she would die. Also, to keep the spirits at bay, she had the house built in an odd way that made no sense in order to confuse the spirits. Even though she is long gone, the home is open to the public. Come visit this odd house.
